The side gate is a hirakaramon (undulating bargeboard) gate set into the board fence lining the southern side of the Guest Hall.
The square newel pillars are chamfered and fitted with brackets supporting the eave purlins, with the ridge supported by boat-shaped bracket arms.
The main ridge is tiled, and the roof features the beautiful curves of a cypress-bark-covered karahafu undulating bargeboard gable. The unokedooshi decorative beam-end covers also match the direction of the board fence.
The upper part of the doors is vertically latticed, while the lower part has strips of wood in an X shape design.
Despite its simple design, this gate produces a dignified air befitting its location as one of the entrances to the grand Guest Hall, also known as the Momoyama Palace.
