The Guest Hall, constructed during the Azuchi-Momoyama period (1558–1600), is situated on the west side of the Main Hall, facing east.
It is said to be a relocated goten residence from Fushimi Castle.
The building is long, stretching north to south, with a hip-and-gable roof on the southern face and a shingle covered gable roof on the northern side. The southern and eastern sides feature both broad and narrow verandas, with a paneled door set at the entrance to the Kenjin-No-Ma room on the eastern side.
On the southern side, a spacious, broad veranda leads to the Jyoza-no-Ma principal room, which is equipped with an alcove and staggered shelves.
Rooms such as the Kacho-no-ma, the Kenjin-no-ma, the Enko-no-ma, and the Tsuru-no-ma are aligned on the eastern side, each adorned with magnificently illustrated partitions painted by artists of the Kano school. The paintings depict themes relevant to each room with flowers and birds, the seven sages, monkeys, and cranes represented respectively.
The western side has a tea room and other facilities. The tea room is designed in the shoin-zukuri style, complete with an alcove and shelves.
While the exterior may appear simple, in its entirety the guest hall is a large and impressive structure, often referred to as a Momoyama Palace.
